Societal security and social cohesion in a globalised world
This long-term priority under the objective ‘Tackling major societal challenges’ aims to make Norway and the rest of the world a more robust society. The area encompasses research related to ‘Exclusion, inclusion, cultural exchanges and migration’, where knowledge about the preconditions for good integration, social differences and working life are key aspects. The target area also covers ‘Global development, inequality and democracy-building’, with particular focus on development trends outside Norway. The target area ‘Culture, civil society and the role of the media’ aims to generate knowledge about the preconditions for social and cultural cohesion in Norway and globally. The area also encompasses research aimed at ‘Societal Security, vulnerability and conflict’, where digital vulnerability, food security, terrorism, energy security and health and threats to nature are important fields of research.
