BIP Wireless Health and Care

Awarded: NOK 7.8 mill.

The proposed “Wireless Health and Care” project addresses main areas in the health & care area, where the usage of seamless wireless information exchange will be of significant heip. It covers the hospital/operational area, emergency situations, health ca re centres, homes for elderly people and the home care.- In the hospital the complexity is increasing. Clinical information captured by biomedical devices constitutes along with the clinical expertise the base for the titration of therapy to the patient. In an emergency situation (ambulance car) data have to be collected as fast as possible, locally analys ed and forwared to the respective hospital. Other scenarios cover the needs for wireless collection of data and the information transfer in elderly centres, recreation centres and in the home care. Hypothesis: Access to online clinical data reduces the incidents of adverse events. Wireless data con nection and distribution will enable shorter reaction times, a more effective treatment and support flexible and mobile working schemes. The project will enable wireless data exchange between sensors, equipment, and people in a secure way. This is achieved by a dedicated Medical Profile, supported by a PKI-based security architecture. Solutions will be demonstrated in the real-lif e situation.
