This is one of three integrated project applications with focus on the development of novel types of catalysts for activation and functionalization of alkanes, and of methane in paraticular. Project 1 (this project – FRINAT) – homogeneous systems; project 2 (FRINAT) – heterogenized systems; project 3 (KOSK) – catalytic testing. The integrated project facilitates 1. The co-operation between groups ofor homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis stimulated by the new possibility to make heterogeneous versions of transition metal complexes. 2. Organization of an extended group to achieve the necessary multidisciplinarity needed to achieve a major fundamental breakthrough in catalysis. Experts on a broad range of techniques like computational chemistry, reaction kinetics, synthesis and charac terization of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts, NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography will focus on a common objective in an organized effort.
