CLIMIT-Forskning, utvikling og demo av CO2-håndtering

Integration and extension of ongoing CO2 SIP and KMB activities within the topics "Capture" and "Storage"

Awarded: NOK 1.6 mill.

The projects mentioned above are SIP's or KMB's, this focuses lasting build-up of competence. In this proposal, the basic research activity through international co-operation and personell exchange is addressed through a PhD, Post Doc and visiting researcher program encompassing a total of 6 candidates whereof 4 are connected with high ranked US b ased educational and R&D providers. The R&D work proposed, covers areas with a potential large added- value and where links are or can be established with leading EU and US initiatives. Proposed are extensions of (reference is made to above mentioned projects WBS): Task A: High temperature CO2 membranes- Linking up with world class R&D groups in Japan and the US- explore dual phase membranes for CO2 separation. Post-doc joint with Task D. Task B: Use existing knowledge to expand on the topic of polyamines and new solvents for reducing costs, establish links with Univ. Texas Austin through a PhD co-operation. Task C: Expand the field of combustion of enriched fuels/oxidisers to industrial concepts and testing, explore smaller sized oxy-fuel power generation plants utilising piston engines. Address the field of low emission Hydrogen combustion devoid of excessive cooling agents. Post-doc s and visiting researchers are included with links to Sandia Nat. Labs. Task D:Promote industrial take-up of models devloped for studying advanced power processes with CO2 capture. Includes Post doc at MiT (Howard Herzog). Task E: Bridging the gap between capture and storage. Computer tools for adressing the CO2 chain from source to storage;Techno-economical models development for EOR and window of opportunity for EOR on the NCS; Defragmenting the national R&D work within t he topic by establishing a network model and instruments for improved co-operation, novel in-situ down-hole CO2 removal prestudy Task G: Innovative reactors for chemical looping, expand current knowledge into reactors for gas turbine processes
