Adapting to Climate Change: Proposal for a Strategic Institute Program

Adaptation is emerging as a major issue in the climate change policy arena, yet research on adaptation is still in its infancy. CICERO’s past and ongoing research on climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation is recognized within the internation al research community, and strong networks are already in place to expand on such research. This proposal for a Strategic Institute Program (SIP) at CICERO will support cutting-edge research on climate change adaptation, with an emphasis on the societal c ontext for adaptation. This SIP will complement the SIP of the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) on the Regional and Local Social Effects of and Adaptations to Climate Change (ReSoClim). Joint activities will strengthen networks and capacity at national and international levels.
