Forprosjekt. Monitoring of pipelines and process equipment using ultrasonics

Awarded: NOK 99,999

Sensorlink in Cooperation with Statoil have developed a system for multichannel ultrasonic monitoring (Ultramonit). A prototype of this system has been installed and is in operation at the Kårstø gas terminal. The objective with this pre-project is to est ablish a user led innovation project (BIP) to be run under the PETROMAKS programme based on Ultramonit technology. The Kårstø Ultramonit prototype system has given valuable experience, and has attracted great interest from other potential users of this k ind of technology. In particular, people have expressed interest about using this kind of technology for erosion monitoring (SnorreA, Ormen lange,++), and also to extend the measurement technology towards more advanced monitoring (crack monitoring in dee pwater risers, GOM). In the pre project, the different possibilities (corrosion, erosion and monitoring for cracks) will be evaluated together with potential partners for a BIP project (PSI ASA, Statoil asa and BP america).
