2006 World Conference on Natural Resource Modeling

The 2006 World Conference on Natural Resource Modeling will take place in Bergen, Norway, from June 26 to June 28 next year. The World Conference on Natural Resource Modeling is an annual event organized by The Resource Modeling Association (RMA). RMA w as founded in the early 1980s by a group of applied mathematicians, applied population biologists, fisheries scientists, and resource economists, primarily from the West coast of North America, to organize annual meetings to discuss the application of mod els to resource management. Since then, the Association has extended its meeting activities to be international in scope. Recent meetings have been held across North America, in Mexico, Europe, South Africa and Australia. The RMA has published the inter national journal Natural Resource Modeling since 1986. The RMA also has a standing committee on resource policy issues, whose responsibility it is to maintain a membership expertise data base. This data base is available to organizations trying to identif y scientists whom they can consult on resource management and policy issues. More about RMA can be found at www.resourcemodeling.org. As RMA has very little funds of it own, the only income is membership fees, it is expected that the organizers of the an nual conferences come up with necassary funding each arrangement. The main sources of income are the institutions own funding, conference fees and public funding. The main costs are mainly covering expenses for keynote speakers, conference material, room and equipment, lunches, banquet, etc.
