Canada - Comparative studies of the Canadian and Norwegian Aluminium Industry

Awarded: NOK 0.15 mill.

This initiative is founded on one of the six the strategic research area of NTNU: The Globalization Programme. Focus will be put on similarities and differences between the aluminium sector in Canada and Norway respectively in order to learn about the h istorical developments and the challenges of a sector exposed to globalizing processes. Examples of topics of interests are relations between: - Transnational corporations and the nation states, - Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) and host country condit ions, - Electricity regulation regimes and corporative strategies including FDI, - Innovation systems and challanges by globalization processes. Through workshops and seminars the partners will discuss such topics of common interest and develop a platf orm for comparative research.
