Contact meeting for the Norwegian Biochemical Society

Awarded: NOK 0.36 mill.

The annual meeting of the Norwegian Biochemical Society has a world-wide reputation as an excellent meeting place for scientists, both on the scientific and the social level. They have been a tremendous success and is arguably the one meeting in Norway wh ich has contributed the most to the contact, collaboration and international exposure of Norwegian scientists and students in biomedical research. The annual meeting takes place in January/February each year and is organized by different groupings within the membership of the Norwegian Biochemical Society. For 2007, the organizers are active scientists working in commercial companies; for 2008 the Institute of Molecular Biosciencies at Oslo University will be responsible. Each year about ten international experts are invited, and now all members of our mother organization, FEBS, are also invited to attend. The programme for 2007 is about to take shape and we have already received confirmation from many international celebrities. There are special sessions for posters and for minisymposia, where students and young researchers are given the chance to present their material, and this training aspect of the meeting is important. The venue for 2007 will be Lillehammer.
