Tilskudd til Mittag-Leffler instituttet

Awarded: NOK 0.40 mill.

The grant will fund the research programmes at the Mittag-Leffler institute. The Mitttag-Leffler institute has become a centre for research networks between Nordic and foreign research groups within mathematics. Here, young Nordic researchers are given a n opportunity to work closely with leading international experts in a profitable environment. During their stay at the institute, the same experts are open to invitations from the different Nordic research groups at local level. During the latest years the programmes have been organised partly as a joint effort by mathematicians from the Nordic countries. Consequently the institute has become an important organ for Nordic cooperation, which in turn opens possibilities to give our less renown research g roups an international effectiveness otherwise restricted to bigger research centres. The programmes have also achieved international prestige, and might accordingly attract guests from the international elite to its programmes within a field of research. For the academic year 2006-2007 the research program at the Mittag-Leffler Institute is in "Moduli Spaces". Researchers from both UiO, UiB and NTNU will visit the Institute during this academic year. The fall of 2007 the research program at the Mitta g-Leffler Institute is in "Stochastic Partial Differential Equations". Professor Bernt Øksendal from the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo is in the Scientific steering committee. The spring of 2008 the research program is in "Complex Analy sis of Several Variables". Researchers from both UiO, NHH, UiS and NTNU will visit the Institute during this semester. The project is a continuation of project number 166430/V30, which has run from 01.01.2005-31.12.2006.
