The 12th annual meeting of the Gesellschaft für Semantik - Sinn und Bedeutung 12 - hosted at the University of Oslo September 2007

The 12th installment of the annual international semantics conference Sinn und Bedeutung (SuB12) is scheduled to be hosted by semanticists at the University of Oslo September 20-22 2007. In addition to three keynote speakers - professor Henriëtte de Swart (Utrecht Institute of Linguistics, Utrecht University) and professor Markus Egg (Center for Language and Cognition, University of Groningen) - the organizers invite anonymous abstracts on natural language semantics, pragmatics, the syntax-semantics inter face, psycholinguistic studies related to meaning, and the philosophy of language. Contributions from both functional and formal perspectives are encouraged. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by an international program committee. 42 papers will be sel ected for 45-minute presentations. 12-page papers based on all 45 talks will be elicited and published in a volume of proceedings. A group consisting of 5 local senior and junior scholars (prof. Cathrine Fabricius Hansen, prof. Kjell Johan Sæbø, post.doc . Atle Grønn, post.doc. Elena Karagjosova and PhD candidate Torgrim Solstad) at ILOS, UiO, will be in charge of planning and organising the conference and editing the proceedings volume. Time table: Submission of abstracts: April 30, 2007 Notification of acceptance: June 15 Conference: September 20-22 Proceedings contributions due: February 15, 2008 Publication of proceedings: medio September 2008 In line with established practice, the 3 invited speakers are to have their travel and accommodation costs covered. The ordinary participants pay their own expenses as well as a conference fee. Speakers from certain countries, i.a. former Soviet republics, are exempt from paying a fee and eligible for a partial reimbursement of accommodation expenses. Refreshm ents during the conference will be provided by the organizers, in addition to a conference dinner Friday evening, September 21. Funding of the proceedings will also be required.
