Professor Wråkberg will trace the beginnings of nature conservation in the Artic initially focusing on the scientific and political initiatives behind establishing a world nature ambiguous transition from a colonial and national top-down administration of early circumpolar Artic nature serves to one which addressed the concerns of indigenous and other local settlers balanced by those of tourists as well as military and territorial interests. He will analyze and compare the possibly de-colonizing character in this development to similar change processes traced in the other projects.
