The Center for Care Research (SOF), south, is a collaborative project between the University of Agder and the University of The South Norway. SOF, south has 8 research employees, 10 PhD fellows, and a post-doctoral fellow. During the reporting period we participated in various research and development projects, several in cooperation with the Development Centers for Nursing Homes and Home Services (USHT) and other municipalities in the region. Selected examples of projects: "Adult school for people with dementia." Partners: Grimstad Municipality, Women's Sanitation Association, UIA, University of Aalborg and University of Northampton. Funding: Stiftelsen DAM. "Freeing up nursing capacity through new responsibility/task sharing and use of technology?" Partners: Sintef, SOF East. Funding: NSF. «MedSafe-Old: Ensuring medication safety for older recipients of municipal home care services” Led by SOF, mid-Norway with one work package led by SOF, south. Partners: Miduniversity (SW), Swansea University, Inland Hospital trust HF, and Ål, Åfjord, Hamar, and Risør municipalities. Funding: NFR- KSP “A community-academic partnership across US and Norway for sustainable nursing education” (The Capable project). Partners: University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), University of Agder (UiA), Grimstad municipality, Charles Drew Community Health Center, and Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department. Funding: UTFORSK - DIKU. «Lindeveteranene» Funding: Norwegian Handicap Association. «Evaluation of ‘Active together’ program» Partners: Volunteer centers in Svelvik, Vang, Strinda og Sjetne, Sarpsborg, Midtre Gaulldal, and Vennesla municipalities; InVi, Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Children and Young People with Disabilities (NKBUF). Funding: Bufdir. "With other glasses" Training program in the use of VR technology. Application to Aust-Agder Development and Competence Fund in November 2022. (Waiting for a reply). Examples of other activities: In 2022, all five SOFs contributed to the national support system for the implementation of the quality reform Live your whole life (LHL). SOF, South has been a member of the program committee that organized and facilitated this year's Live Your Whole Life conference. SOF, South is a permanent member of the regional support system in the Agder counties. In Vestfold and Telemark, SOF, South is the technical partner for the regional support system. SOF, South has arranged seven process guidance seminars for USHTs in the region. SOF, South has coordinating responsibility for the topic Live your whole life in omsorgsbiblioteket.no. Terje Fredwall at SOF, South is the editor-in-chief of the Care Library. Two summaries are in the works in the Care Library about alcohol use among the elderly, and nursing competence in municipal acute inpatient services. SOF, South is represented in all USHT's professional and cooperative bodies and USHT has two representatives on the the center's steering committee. In 2022, SOF, South has piloted a municipal research program (KFP) for master students (n = 6) and will further develop it in 2023 in 2023 in 2023 in 2023 in collaboration with UiA, USN, KS, NORCE, Southern Norway Hospital Trust, and municipal partners.

Behov finnes for å styrke den praksisnære forskningen knyttet opp mot den kommunale omsorgstjenesten. Et ledd i denne satsningen er å etablere regionale forsknings- og utviklingssentre. UiA og HiT søker om å få et regionalt senter for omsorgsforskning eta blert i region sør. UiAs og HiTs forsknings-, utviklings- og utdanningsmiljøer samt samarbeidet med eksterne miljøer presenteres for å vise på den fag- og forskningsportefølje som finnes sammen, inkluderende undervisningssykehjemmene. Dette danner grunnla get for å bygge opp et FoU-senter i nært samspill med kommunene i de fem fylkene i regionen. Det tiltenkte FoU-sentrets tematiske satsingsområder kan derfor i starten baseres på følgende tre områden som vil bygges videre i forhold til kommunenes behov og etterspørsel: 1) Samfunnsnivået; med fokus på rekruttering, kompetanseutvikling, styring, ledelse, organisering og samhandling. 2) Kulturnivået; med fokus på aktiv omsorg - frivillighet. 3) Personnivået; med fokus på økt omsorgskvalitet for eldre og lang varig syke personers helse og livsvilkår samt demensomsorg, psykisk helse, palliativ omsorg og IKT - omsorg. Det finnes en bred erfaring og kompetanse i forhold til vitenskapelige tilnærminger og forskningsmetoder ved UiA og HiT. Dette kommer å gjøre det mulig å realisere kommunenes behov og etterspørsel av praksisnær FoU. Ved eventuell etablering av et FoU-senter vil informasjon om sentrets rolle være sentral. Kommunikasjonen med kommuner og øvrige brukere vil være priortiert. Nettside som tydeliggjør se ntrets profil, prosjekter mv vil bygges. Forskningsresultater vil rapporteres i etablerte vitenskapelige tidsskrifter med referee-ordning. Oppgraderingen av kompetanse ved sentret er at det blir lagt opp til fire årsverk knyttet til faglige stillinger (to fra UiA og to fra HiT), fortrinnsvis to professorer, en førsteamanuensis og en kvalifiseringsstilling for en lektor samt en felles administrativ stilling. Finansieringsplan og budsjett for tre år presenteres.
