The mission of the national research school is to stimulate research, increase recruitment and move the PhD education in Business Economics and Administration (BEA) substantially beyond the current state. This will be attained by organising a joint effort of 14 national research institutions within the field, having a clear purpose to consolidate and develop national resources in collaboration with leading international researchers, business schools and universities in order to provide a PhD education at the highest international standards. The school will have app. 140 students and be hosted by the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH). The research school will support the students in all phases of the doctoral education from a dmission into a doctoral programme to placement on the job market. The school will add value to training by coordinating and developing resources to improve the breadth and depth of training, both regarding theory and method. It will add value to supervis ion by initiating research projects at the forefront of important BEA research topics. The students will be involved in these projects and write their theses in collaboration with other students and supervisors linked to international research communities . Furthermore, the research school will enhance the quality of the doctoral education by organising professional and social activities each year, such as a research school conference, workshops, seminars/courses and a job market conference. The research school will add value to the Norwegian and international society by stimulating research and education of doctoral candidates. There is a heavy need of research and researchers within BEA to help managers understand and cope with the effects of technologi cal changes and globalisation of the economy. The demand for managers and analysts with a doctoral degree has also increased dramatically in Norway.
