Internet Security Conference, Seguridad de Redes

Awarded: NOK 50,000

Conference. The aim of the conference is to highlight the threats that Internet installations in Bolivia face today. The country has no legislation on cyber crime, nor does it have a CERT-centre, or National Security Centre. Surveys done by the University of Bergen in cooperation with Universidad Privada Boliviana and Universidad San Simón in Cochabamba, show that the country faces serious threats from immigrants committing cyber crime from installations in Bolivia. These threats are international, and th e conference is meant to pinpoint how this is performed and what immediate measures are needed to be taken both by businesses in the country and officials working in the public sector. Hands on demonstrations will be given, together with recent attacks o n installations, how they are performed and by who. There will be work groups focusing on security policies developed by Rolf Beev, University of Bergen, the work groups are expected to summon recommendations for the implementation of such policies in org anisations and enterprises. The conference will also focus on network buidling, the use of a knowledge database that will be set up as a part of an ongoing project at the University of Bergen.
