Scandinavian Workshop on Algorithm Theory

Awarded: NOK 0.20 mill.

The Department of Informatics at the University of Bergen has been chosen to host SWAT 2010. The Scandinavian Workshop on Algorithm Theory (SWAT) was first organized in 1988 which makes it one of the oldest and in this way most reputable international con ferences in the field of algorithms, SWAT rotates every other year among the five Scandinavian countries and Norway has already hosted SWAT in 1990 and in 2000, both times with support from the Norwegian Research Council. As the University of Bergen (UiB) today boasts one of the leading European Research Groups in Algorithms, currently counting 4 Professors, 6 postdoctoral researchers and 10 PhD students, we have been chosen as the hosts of SWAT 2010. We have received confirmation from UiB (Eiendomsavdeli ngen) to rent the brand new Student Centre for a week in July 2010 to host all satellite workshops, invited talks and contributed talks. This will allow us to promote Bergen as a University town for the 100+ participants. The SWAT proceedings will as alwa ys appear in Springer Verlag's Lecture Notes in Computer Science series.
