Since the congress in Odense in 2000, the Nordic congress has been arranged with joint participation of a mathematical society belonging to some non-Nordic country.
The congress in 2000 was arranged together with the American Mathematical Society and th e congress in Reykjavik in 2005 was a joint conference with the French Mathematical Society. In 2009 the congress will be a conference with joint participation of the London Mathematically Society and the Edinburgh Mathematical Society and the official na me of the congress is thus "25th Nordic and 1st British-Nordic congress of Mathematics".
The scientific activity consists of 11. main plenary talks held by invited speakers together with several special sessions given in the afternoon.
