RENERGI-Fremtidens rene energisystemer

Bioenergy markets in Norway, Postdoc

Awarded: NOK 5.3 mill.

Four subprojects: 1)Household demand for bioenergy: Important factors when households choose to invest in energy systems and who much bioenergy that are actually households use, given the energy system they have and the range are elasticities and cross el asticities for bioenergy. The method will be a consumer survey including a descriptive part documenting the current state of behaviour, knowledge, and attitudes. In addition the survey will include a stated choice experiment. Latent variables will be meas ured with multiple scales and also analysed with structural equation modelling 2)Innovation and cost reduction in fuelwood supply chains: Factors that can explain the innovation activity in the fuelwood value chain and factors that are important to explai n the supply of fuelwood in Norway. 1000 randomly selected fuelwood supplier companies will be surveyed and similar method as in part 1 will be applied 3)Diffusion of and innovation in district heating systems. How the competitive situation is for distric t heating. Impeding and promoting factors, political measures, cost structure, raw material supply and logistics, innovation and diffusion of technology. The study will be positioned in the Systems of Innovation and Diffusion literature and qualitative me thod will be used. 4)Policy implications: A bioenergy policy has to be founded on sound empirical analysis. This project will contribute to new knowledge about the bioenergy system and build a foundation for an improved bioenergy policy.
