Subject Fields:

Today, there are various meanings as to what methods, products and materials are best for rehabilitation of existing moisture damaged cellar walls. Existing recommendations for heat and moisture insulation when constructing new buildings are not necessari ly relevant for rehabilitation of walls with a high moisture level and possibly capillary suction from the foundation. To be able to rehabilitate the cellar walls in a secure and cost efficient way so that the cellar in the future can be used for healthy recidence-type activities, a thorough evaluation and documentation of various methods and products are needed. In this project, the heat- and moisture conditions shall be measured in many cellar walls, both in cellars that has been rehabilitated the last three years, and cellars that are going to be rehabilitated during the project period. Regarding the last cases different methods for heat- and moisture insulation will be used for a direct comparison. Models for calculating the moisture transfer through the cellar walls will be developed. The objective with the measurements and the calculations are to find the effects of the different methods and the drying speed after the rehabilitation.
