The main goal is a platform, branded as Coremine, for building domain-specific information communities supporting multimedia information search, user updates, and information exchange. The Coremine Platform will enable building communities combining conte xt networks generated from analysis of high quality domain-specific data sources, Google type of search, Wikipedia type of user updates, and Facebook type of information sharing and user interactions. By use of the interactive domain-specific context netw orks, the user can access relevant information (hits), associate own information, and communicate contexts of information to other people. The project will be performed in collaboration between PubGene in Norway and China, Statistics for Innovation Norsk Regnesentral, Harvard University, and University of Oslo. The main R&D challenge is to achieve generic text processing algorithms and an ontology building framework which can be applied to several domains, e.g. music, finance and health. Further, there is a challenge to integrate existing search engines improving their hits ranking by use of advanced filters. Advertisement linked to information search and communities is currently a fast growing multi-billion business. The Coremine communities addresse s users focused on a particular domain, e.g. music or medical information. This allows context based advertisement exposed to specific user groups. Advertisement revenue will increase along with the increase of users providing a substantial revenue and pr ofit opportunity. PubGene aims at having minimum three domain specific communities on the market within 2014 with more than 500.000 unique users.
