Sensorteknologi (tidligere: Subsea Sensors for Oil and Gas)

Awarded: NOK 41.3 mill.

This project will support leading edge research on advanced technologies for subsea sensors and provide a better physical understanding of the sensor principles. In parallel, the commercialization capabilities of the research groups will be studied and en hanced. New knowledge will also be created in relation to how technology transfer and interactions with industry in dispersed regions can be improved and strengthened. We propose a consortium with participants from the two main academic institutions and the main technology research institute in the region. The consortium will collaborate with internationally renowned experts and companies related to subsea sensors in Northern Norway. This combination of academic and technological know-how will provide th e necessary competitive advantage to strengthen existing industry, establish new businesses, and attract oil and gas companies to the region. This project will strengthen established research groups and education programs, provide cross-disciplinary coope ration between business and technology, and increase regional, national and international cooperation. Financing for 8 PhDs, 2 Pos Docs and equipment is included. We will work on four selected work packages (WPs) related to subsea sensors and one related to technology transfer: WP1: Electromagnetic methods for oil and gas exploration WP2: Ultrasound Gas Leak Detection WP3: Raman-spectroscopy for subsea detection of methane WP4: Process Research and Development of New Ultrasonic Transducers WP5: Technolog y entrepreneurship and university-industry technology transfer in geographically dispersed regions We aim to support technology companies in Northern Norway by: -Technological research in collaboration with existing firms -Develop technology that can for m the basis of new spin-off firms -Develop technology to solve industrial problems -Educate graduates with relevant skills for technology-based firms -Disseminate technology to users across the region Nytt av 16.9.2014 Prosjektet har som mål å utvikla sensorteknologi tilpassa arktiske utfordringar og for bruk i Nord-Noreg.
