The project is organized in four interrelated components. Components (I) and (II) will emphasise theoretical and methodological reflection (and training) in general, but with a clear aim to relate such general reflections to the overall transnational appr oach. (III) represents a number of case-oriented or thematic projects including a collection of transnational historiographies. (IV) sets out to create a forum for collective reflection specifically on transfers and transnational methodologies. It is an e xplicit aim to integrate the various components of the project. The components take the following shape: I: A series of eight seminars per year in the three year span of the project. II: A new PhD course in theory and method, as well as a contribution t o a National program coordinated through the National Academic Council for History. III: Nine thematic projects on transnational history engaging department staff and national and international networks in reflections on transnational history. Morover, w e have included a set of historiographical studies focusing on defined transnational topics. These projects also represent vital contributions towards components I and IV. IV: Collective reflection on transfers, as a crucial element in all transnational history, in the form of annual workshops and a final conference.
