The proposal is part of the the NFR project no 178683 "Violence, poverty and police corruption" for the period period 2007- 2009. Jens Christopher Andvig is project leader. Involved researchers are me and Amit Shrivastava from the Norwegian Institute of I nternational Affairs (Norsk Utenrikspolitisk Institutt (NUPI) in Norwegian), Odd-Helge Fjeldstad from Christian Michelsen's Institute and (now deceased)Omar Azfar from John Jay's College, CUNY. Specifically, within this propject, the present proposal aime d at analysing at analyzing the consequences of street level reports of corruption (police corruption) and crime on the level of development, using International Crime Victimization Surveys. The focus will evauate the impact of police corruption on the le vel of development, education and health as well as the interactions with criminal activities.
