There is now a strong urge for the use of Multiscale methods in the porous media flow community in Norway, e.g. in oil and gas recovery, and carbon dioxide storage. However, there is very little understood in terms of speed and accuracy of the Multiscale methods. It has recently been observed that such methods can be formulated in the framework of domain decomposition methods whose theory is very well understood.
The participants of this proposal are very well known both nationally and internationally fo r their pioneering contributions into the theory of Domain Decomposition methods.
The proposed project aims at understanding the existing Multiscale methods, developing new algorithms and their theoretical analysis based on the theory of Domain Decomposi tion methods.
