CIEAR - Centre for Integrated Environmental Analytical Research

CIENS with its partner institutes NIVA (Norwegian Institute for Water Research), NILU (Norwegian Institute for Air Research) and the UiO (University of Oslo), along with STAMI (The National Institute of Occupational Health) and FHI (The Norwegian Institut e of Public Health) apply for a 2 MNOK pre-project for development of a full Large Scale Research Infrastructure (LSRI) application of an integrated environmental analytical chemical (EAC) research laboratory facility located at the Campus Blindern of Osl o. The title of the Pre-project is CIEAR - Centre for Integrated Environmental Analytical Research. The Pre-project is promoted by the CIENS organisation located in the CIENS Centre (www.ciens.no), while the project will be managed by the CIENS partner NI VA. The main objective is to establish a centre for research in environmental analytical chemistry with the most advanced instrumentation needed for the future method developments for the Norwegian environmental chemistry community. The goal of CIEAR is to: 1.)Establish a national centre for EAC research, catering for new research tools and invite the Norwegian environmental community to advance together in a shared research centre hosting the most advanced equipment 2.)Be a research facility to exami ne the potential of the most advance technology for new tailor designed methods in EAC, while the routine production needs is transferred to the host institutions when technology is mature. 3.)Combine the existing competence and knowledge at the partner i nstitutes, their international networks, and develop a joint base for further exploration of scientific challenges in EAC research 4.)Improve co-operation between applied research institutions and universities 5.)Facilitate education of new scientists in applications of EAC
