Middle Eastern Connectivities. The 8th Nordic Conference of the Nordic Society for Middle Eastern Studies Bergen, September 2010

The 8th Nordic conference of Middle Eastern studies will host approximately 100 delegates from all the Nordic countries and from members affiliated to institutions in the Middle East. The event will take place over three days and consist of four keynote s peeches and parallel panels. The title of the workshop will be: Middle Eastern Connectivities The conference will be organized around three central themes, which reflect both the membership base of the Nordic society and the rich and long-standing res earch milleu in Bergen. 1) Migratory situation in the past and present 2) Religious transformation during war and under authoritarian rule 3) Adaptations of laws, norms and practices The call for papers was issued in May 2009. Deadline for submission of abstracts will be january 15 2010. Deadline for registration will be March 1 2010
