The proposed project addresses an alternative way to selectively capture CO2 from combustion exhaust gases for subsequent separate, controlled release. The method may be used in conjunction with sequestration and storage of CO2 from combustion of fossil fuels. Theoretical considerations based on fundamental chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics and thermodynamic data have been used for computer modelling the processes involved. Results from the modelling indicates that the method may be used for ca pture of CO2 from combustion of fossil fuels as in thermoelectric power generation. This application for a basic research grant aims at taking a fundamental process from the concept and modelling- to the experimental stage.
