The future Norwegian energy system in a European context

The overall goal is to use bottom-up techno-economic models to examine the role Norway can play both as a provider of green energy, green products and storage capacity in hydro reservoirs. The project will develop a new regional TIMES model covering the four Nordic countries and the neighbouring countries UK, the Nederland, Germany and possibly Poland and the Baltic states. The remaining European countries will be modelled as a single region. The model will be applied to analyse scenarios highlighting p rospects for trade of electricity and electricity consuming goods from Norway to Europe and the role of renewables like wind and hydro power. The project will analyse hydrogen in a global perspective through participation in the Hydrogen Implementing Ag reement annex Global Hydrogen System Analysis where IFE will act as a subtask leader for the task Collaboration with IEA HQ Analytics.
