Medieval Narratives between History and Fiction: From the Centre to the Periphery of Europe, c. 1100-1400

Awarded: NOK 42,000

In the present book we want to investigate medieval narratives "between history and fiction" by looking at literature in Medieval Europe during the period from roughly 1100 to 1400. However, instead of focusing on one medieval language and its literary pr oducts, the book opens up the view on literary space, time and idiom by looking at very different regional cultures, sometimes very far removed from each other. As the title of the book indicates, the contributors primarily focus on the 'periphery' of Med ieval Europe, 'periphery' because most of the literatures discussed are not part of the Western European canon of literary history.
