Conference 21 - 23 September 2011 in Trondheim: People and nature in mountain landscapes: Dynamics of change People have influenced mountain landscapes in northern Europe for several thousand years. Land use has affected habitats and biodiversity as wel l as cultural heritage and our sense of place and identity. Changes in land use now place us at a critical point in determining future management strategies. This conference will address how archaeology and cultural history can be integrated with long-t erm and contemporary ecology to understand landscape dynamics and underpin sustainable management and conservation of both cultural heritage and biodiversity in mountain environments Topics: Long term landscape and land use dynamics Criteria for evaluati ng cultural landscapes Mountains and landscapes: What is natural? Using spatial and temporal data sets to monitor change Managing conflicts: working with stakeholders The resilience of ecosystem services Future scenarios: Policies and models Reconciling n atural and cultural heritage conservation goals Target group: Scientists from archaeology, ecology, palaeoecology, geography, history with a general interest in interdisciplinary questions related to; management and conservation of cultural landscapes: b iodiversity, cultural heritage and land use.
