The following research questions will be addressed: How can lean and the Norwegian model be combi ned in a way that will further increase our competitive level? How can the lean-approach and employee-driven innovation be integrated in order to assure both cost effectiveness and innovative capacity? How can ICT be configured to support lean operation s? How can expert-driven knowledge creation be combined with continuous improvement, and how can monodisiplinary knowledge network be combined with the multidisciplinary knowledge of production? How can Norwegian companies become better at creating and managing lean supply networks? The research project will be closely connected to Lean Forum Norway as an arena for communication and dissemination of results. We will be particulary concerned with Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs), and we see man y channels for dissemination; through Lean Forum Norway, through supply chain networks, through other netwerks like STiG network in Grenland and Lean Forum Telemark, and other parts of the public support system.
