Guided by the project "Muslim devotional practices, aesthetics, and cultural formation in migrancy" the planned international conference and edited volume are guided by the project´s framework and milestones. The international conference is planned for t he 4th and 5th October 2012 with the aim to produce the project´s anthology by Naguib and Raudevere (eds)The meeting will be an arena to discuss aesthetics in the Muslim World combining methodological and theoretical perspectives from the humanities and s ocial sciences. Participants will use their empirical material to explore aesthetic articulations as entry points notions of faith, ritual practice, and human relationships in Muslim communities. In particular, they will be invited to discuss the capacity of devotional practices and aesthetics to dramatize themes and events of significance to Muslims in communities characterized by human and cultural mobilityUltimately, the conference will develop the multi-disciplinary perspective already embedded in the project "Muslim devotional practices, aesthetics and cultural formation in migrancy". The aim is to provide new insight to the study of aesthetic in religious practices from a number of angles, including gender and generation differences, to create a wid e range of inputs and perspectives which will be the basis for Naguib´s and Raudevere´s edited volume.
