CONNECTIONS BETWEEN CONSTRAINED CONTROL DESIGN AND THE THEORY OF POSITIVE DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS

Awarded: NOK 60,000

The object of the present project is to investigate the relationship between the constrained control design methodologies and the theory of positive dynamical systems. The attractive feature of positive systems in automatic control is that it extrapolate s the understanding of simple first-order systems, which are positive systems. Further, an interesting control design problem is represented by the need to guarantee simultaneously the closed-loop stability and positivity of solutions under positive initi al conditions. Recently, the dual comparison principle provided design tools based on a description of sets in terms of a finite number of generator vectors. This approach offers a new perspective for the analysis and design of interconnected and/or state and control constrained dynamical systems.
