Summary taken from the Arctic Frontiers website: http://www.arcticfrontiers.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=282&Itemid=485& "In an effort to further strengthening communication and networking between emerging leaders and es tablished Arctic stakeholders, Emerging Leadersis aimed at young scientists and young professionals based in Norway and abroad and whose work relate to arctic issues.The Emerging Leaders program is scheduled Thursday 16 January to Sunday 20 January. Durin g a 5 day program, including a voyage on the Norwegian Costal Steamer from Bodø to Svolvær and end in Tromsø, and participation in the Arctic Frontiers conference 2013, selected candidates will take part in a blend of technical, social and cultural events guided by mentors representing business, politics and academia. Program participants will be guided by mentors representing industry,research and development from Norway and international institutes. The students will be given specific tasks and challen ged to give a talk at the second day of Arctic Frontiers. Program objectives: -To gather an international group of young professionals and young researchers for a challenging and rewarding stay that will broaden their understanding of the Arctic challeng es and build lifelong networks; -Further develop their leadership skills through personal experiences; -Sharing perspectives on current global challenges and Arctic development issues, including giving a keynote address at the 7th Arctic Frontiers policy session; -Facilitating networking and cross-cultural communication among emerging leaders and established Arctic stakeholders."
