Is the reproduction strategy of Calanus glacialis determined by the stored fat resources of individuals?

Awarded: NOK 31,929

The project will focus on the fatty acid composition and lipid sac size of both male and female Calanus glacialis from october to may, and put it in context with the energy consumption for gonad development/egg production, the energy consumption of the ma le who cannot eat, and to see if females are capital breeders or income breeders. This is to see how voulnerable C. glacialis might be to changes in blooming seasons of ice alga and phytoplankton as a result of the changing icecover in the arctic.
