SAMRISK-2-Samfunnssikkerhet og risiko

Securing Norwegian society abroad

Awarded: NOK 99,999

How can society be secured when important parts of, and interests of, the same society are located outside of state borders? That is the underlying question of this proposed research project. Following from this initial question are the questions of how t he securing of societal interests abroad can best be conceptualised and theorised, and what the trade-offs are between establishing such security and the maintenance of individual liberties. The goal of this pre-project is to establish international coope rative relations, in turn leading to an international network which will partake in applications for SAMRISK II and Horizon 2020. Within the envisioned project, the international network will help to elaborate the theoretical framework and the different conceptualisations necessary when approaching risks to society abroad, as well as providing an international comparative dimension.
