Project Establishment Support - Framework Grant H2020

Awarded: NOK 0.46 mill.

Høgskolen i Gjøvik (HiG) counts on a driven research community that works in a cross-disciplinary, multi-sectorial manner collaborating with partners from academic and research institutions, the industry and SMEs to carry out research well aligned with H2 020 main pillars, in areas of Cyber- & Information Security, Colour Informatics & Media Technology, Applied Computer Science, Interaction Design, Health, Community Care & Advanced Clinical Nursing; Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, Sustainable Manufactur ing and Additive Manufacturing. Researchers at HiG rely on lean financial means to respond to calls for proposals from H2020, still in 2013 HiG received the highest allocation of EU funds per employee of all universities and university colleges in Norway. Costs involved in the process of putting proposals together as coordinator or as participant can be burdensome for HiG. Funding travels, organising and participating in preparatory meetings/workshops, time/effort in identifying and recruiting research pa rtners, consulting fees for supporting proposal writing, project coordination and management puts a lot of pressure on HiG's fixed budget and this could threaten the capacity to maintain and increase the quantity and quality of HiG's research. This pro ject's main objective is financing costs through the process of development of H2020 project proposals, allowing HiG's researchers to concentrate their effort in preparing and submitting high quality successful applications, thus increasing the quantity a nd quality of their research activity. This objective would be achieved through the covering of financial costs involved in the process of writing research project proposals, including travel costs, time/effort of project coordination/research support sta ff; providing internal training and contracting consulting services to support in writing proposals and to assist in identifying research partners; to organise and participate in preparatory meetings and workshops.
