EWS Nordic countries in the Young Europe - Future Europe

Alternative title: Norden i en ung Europa - framtidens Europa

Awarded: NOK 0.17 mill.

Nordic countries in the Young Europe - Future Europe. The main aim is for an international, interdisciplinary group of researchers to prepare a research program and a proposal to submit to Horizon 2020. The generation who will be at the centre of our fu ture society are today's adolescents, tomorrow's young adults. Their willingness and commitment are essential to be able to meet today's challenges. Growing scarcity of resources calls for profound changes of society towards a more sustainable model. This concerns for example consumption patterns, lifestyle and organising of daily lives. Health is pointed out as a resource for everyday life and as such a prerequisite for living individually, socially and economically productive life. One fifth of today's children and adolescents suffer from mental health problems of different kind, anxiety and depression. These are future adults, who have to handle the challenges of the European societies; the aging populations, financial uncertainty and increasing inequa lities. In order to meet these challenges, the proposed research program will investigate young people's expectations, attitudes and needs regarding the organisation of professional, social and private life in the future. The main focus will be on the you ng people?s future roles in care and career, work-life balance and organization of everyday life in relation to health and social sustainability. Specific aims of the Nordic exploratory workshop: To review previous research in the field in order to ident ify important knowledge gaps To establish the specific aims of the research program To define the target population of young people important to reach To design a plan for an effective way to reach the target population To design and describe the methodol ogical approach to be used To develop the theoretical framework of the research program To establish a partnership/cooperation with researchers important to involve To draft the application to Horizon 2020
