Acess to timely formal care

This is a JPND project (The joint programme on neurodgenrative disease research), that aims to study the provision of family and public care to persons with dementia in an intermediate stage of dementia, e.g. after the diagnosis is made and before instit utionalization. The project is co-ordinated from Maastrict in the Netherlands and partners come from England, Wales, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Sweden and Norway. 400 persons with dementia and their family carers were followed-up for one year to study the provision of care by use of standardized measurements. Quantitative analyses were carried out. In addition family carers and public stakeholders from all the collaborating countriës were interviewed and these interviews were analysed with qualitative methods. Papers and reports have been written to describe the results and how to improve the care for persons with dementia and their carers in Europe. Focus groups interviews with the person with dementia and their caregivers have been carried out. The baseline data collection of the quantitative part was completed Sept 1st, 2015. In Norway, 60 dyads were included, which is in line with the research plan. 52 dyads have data from all 3 visits. Qualitative interviews with persons with dementia and dementia carers have been conducted, the analyses of the Norwegian data have been completed and sent to the responsible work package. In our own work package we have performed a literature search for a scoping review that was finished in 2017. We have conducted a Delhpi process to reach consesus for best practice recommendations for access to formal community care services. The Delphi process started in 2016 and was finalized in 2017, along with the best practice recommendations. Dissemination of the results from the Actifcare projekt has taken place since May 2017, among other things, a meeting was held with the Directorate of Health and a larger meeting of representatives from the Storting (Parliament),health department, county officer's officee, professional staff in municipal health services and specialist health services, trade unions, union fo municipalities and Norwegian Alzheimer Assiciation were invited . Results and the best practice recommendations from the Actifcare project are presented at international and national conferences and distributed through, among other things, the Directorate of health's projects under the auspices of Dementia plan 2020. More articles are published based on the results from the Actifcare project, and several are planned.

Prosjektet er et JPND prosjekt; "The joint programme on neurodegenerative disease research". Det skal koordineres fra Nederland. Partnere kommer fra (foruten Nederland) Tyskland, England, Wales, Sverige, Irland, Italia og Portugal. I alt seks arbeidspakke r er utviklet og prosjektet skal utføres i henhold til disse:. Arbeidspakke 1 skal utføres av gruppen i Nederland og vil i hovedsak være av koordinerende art, "project management" Arbeidspakke 2 skal ledes av gruppen i Tyskland og vil i hovedsak være a v beskrivende art. Ulike former for sosial- og helsehjelp til PMD i europeiske land, og hvordan systemene fungerer vil bli beskrevet. Hele kjeden av hjelpetiltak fra diagnose til sykehjeminnleggelse blir tatt med, og suksessfaktorer og barrierer for adekv at hjelp blir analysert. Samarbeid mellom familieomsorgsgivere og profesjonelle blir beskrevet Arbeidspakke 3 skal ledes av gruppene i England og Wales, men alle partnere vil delta i datainnsamlingen. Hvert land skal rekruttere 50 dyader av PMD og famil ie omsorgsgiver (tilsammen 450 dyader)som skal undersøkes ved baseline, etter 6 og 12 måneder. Både kvalitative og standardiserte kvantitative metoder skal anvendes for å belyse behov av omsorg i relasjon til tilbudt omsorg og analyse av faktorer som ka n forklare forskjeller mellom tilbud og behov. Arbeidspakke 4 skal ledes av gruppen i Sverige og er en analyse av kostnader sett i relasjon til konsekvenser (effekt), hvor livskvalitet blir et sentralt endepunkt. Sammenligninger mellom nord-sør Europa er sentralt i analysene. Arbeidspakke 5 skal ledes av gruppen i Norge og vil være en utarbeidelse av "best practice" på tvers av de europeiske land. I denne evalueringen og i de anbefalinger som arbeidspakken vil munne ut med vil konsekvenser og effek ter stå sentralt i relasjon til kostnader og hva som er mulig å få til i ulike land. Arbeidspakke 6 skal ledes av gruppen i Irland og vil i hovedsak være viet publisering av resultatene i prosjektet.
