Human practising is part of the body-cultural heritage of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, which is most specifically revealed in the terms legemsøvelser, kroppsøving and kroppsövning respectively. However, in contemporary research and pedagogical approaches i n the fields of physical education (PE), sport and rehabilitation this movement phenomenon has been marginalised and appears as either overlooked (play), instrumentalised (training) or objectified (fitness). The purpose of the two workshops in this projec t is to gather Nordic researchers in the multidisciplinary field of sports science to explore possible ways and values of reviving our Nordic tradition for practising. The first workshop will seek to establish a shared understanding of the meaning of hum an practising and explore how this can throw new light on the activities in PE, sport and rehabilitation. The second workshop will take a step further to explore how this movement phenomenon can inform new perspectives on learning and pedagogical approach es, and renew and improve working methods and practices within the three fields of practice. Together the workshops will seek to provide new territories for future research in Nordic sports science based on our shared body-cultural heritage. The main obj ective is to form a research network with this shared research focus, which will be established as a collaborative Nordic research programme on human practising.
