Opening Conference for the Centre for Cyber- and Information Security (CCIS).

Key actors in Norway are now collaborating to improve the country's capacity for research and delivery of higher education in the area of cyber security and information security. This year they will establish the national Center for Cyber- and Information Security (CCIS), officially opening on August 15, 2014. A one day conference will be held on the occasion at the host institution for CCIS, Gjøvik University College (GUC). 350+ participants prominent in the IS field are expected. CCIS is a collaboration among partners: The Police Directorate, National Security Authority, Statkraft, Statnett, Ministry of Justice, Norwegian Cyber Defence, Telenor, Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, National Criminal Investigation Service, Mnemonic, Police Universit y College, Defence Cyber Academy and some others. GUC is the host institution, where CCIS will be integrated with the Norwegian Information Security Laboratory (NISlab). CCIS will grow to a significant size and position in Europe, actively embedded in t he global research community, with English as its working language. CCIS study program includes BSc, MSc and PhD-level dedicated to cyber- and information security, and leading the Research School in Computer Science & Information Security (COINS). CCIS will focus on five departments/research groups: Cyber defence, cyber security of control systems & critical infrastructure, Forensics & cybercrime investigation, Information security management, and biometrics. International presen ters include: Troels Oerting, Head, EUROPOL Cybercrime Centre; Melissa Hathaway, Member, GCSEC Council of Experts; Rainer Baumgart, CEO, SecuNet; William F. Pelgrim, President & CEO, Center for Internet Security.
