Sustainable Innovative Sludge Treatment and Management System

Awarded: NOK 29,999

Hovedmålet med prosjektet kan leses ut av en foreløpig arbeidstekst for søknaden: "The current and existing technological developments for resources recovery from sludge mainly focus on energy, nutrients, biopolymers, adsorbents and building materials, bu t none of them can be considered as the universal and definitive solution. Local situations and specificities have a strong impact on the sustainability of disposal routes and must be specifically considered, for example through adequate decision support systems that take into account social issues and public acceptance In this context, the fundamental basis of our project will lean on how to implement and associate the best available technologies, regarding the local situations and markets deployment. Th is will be done through decision support systems and scenarios development, assuming each operation is viable and industrialized. Besides, considering the most advanced new processes, the project will focus on two main case-studies: (i) the association of bio-plastics and biogas production coupled with nutrient recovery in medium-size plants and (ii) gasification or pyrolysis associated with material recovery from combustion residues (e.g.: adsorbents and or ceramic material) in large plants" Det har h ittl vært et orienterende møte i Milano 27.03.14 for FoU- institusjoner og firmaer som har vært aktive innenfor WssTPs Sludge Management -gruppe, samt mer uformelle møter i tilknytning til European Sludge Management Conference i Izmir i Tyrkia 26-27 mai. Det planlegges nye møter i løpet av august 2014 for å få etablert et endelig konsortium og fordele arbeidsoppgaver og starte søknadsskrivingen , for å rekke søknadsfristen for fase 1 som er 16. oktober 2014
