9th Biennial conference of the International Academy for Intercultural Research

Awarded: NOK 99,999

Department of Psychosocial Scienceand Professor David Lackland Sam has been selected to host and chair the 9th Biennial conference of the International Academy for Intercultural Research to be held at the University of Bergen, from June 28 to July 2, 2015 (see WWW.IAIR2015.COM). The conference is organized in close collaboration with the International Academy for Intercultural Research (IAIR) (www.intercultural-academy.net/). The IAIR2015 (the pseudonym of the Bergen conference) has as its theme Realizi ng the Potential of Cultural Diversity in the Society and at the Workplace. The conference format will include keynotes, symposia, thematic paper sessions and poster sessions. Following in the steps of previous IAIR conferences, IAIR2015 will address both single and comparative studies together with theoretical and practical perspectives on (i) how to promote harmonious societies and productive work places (ii) capitalizing on the potential of cultural diversity, and (iii) achieving positive intercultura l relations among people of different ethnic backgrounds. Award-winning international scholars will hold keynote lectures and invited symposia in the field of intercultural relations. There will also be a pre-conference workshop: Fellows Day workshop. Pr e-conference workshops are normally for PhD students, but this one-day workshop is to provide senior researchers and scholars a forum to discuss and exchange ideas at a higher academic and theoretical level. Because Norway is a high-cost country, and in order not to exclude potential participants from low-income countries, this conference, for the first time, seeks to offer a small financial support to up to 5 participants from low-income countries. Based on experiences from previous IAIR conferences, the IAIR2015 is expected to attract between 200 and 300 international researchers. The conference represents a unique opportunity for international collaboration and profiling for Norwegian scholars
