Sedimentology and facies development of the Late Triassic De Geerdalen Formation on Hellwaldfjellet and Wilhelmøya, Eastern Spitsbergen

The working title for this project is; 'Sedimentology and facies development of the Upper Triassic DeGeerdalen formation on Hellwaldfjjellet and Wilhelmøya' and will be supervised by Professor II Atle Mørk at the department of Geology and Mineral Resource Engineering at NTNU. In addition a secondary supervisor has been selected, in this case, Professor Snorre Olaussen, at the Department of Arctic Geology in the University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS), who will facilitate the projects continuity during periods of research conducted at UNIS. The primary research institution is the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, with the University Centre in Svalbard acting as an external research institute. Motivation for this project emanates from the necessity to understand, in detail, the regional development of the Triassic succession throughout Svalbard. The project is a part of a collaboration with two additional master thesises and a PhD with the following RiS-IDs: 10083, 10086, 10115, 4061, 3005.
