Horizon 2020 ICT-16 Big Data Network

Awarded: NOK 4,999

The Industrial Internet is an emerging software and communication infrastructure that interconnects machines and data to build intelligent machines and applications never before possible. Multinationals like General Electric (GE) refers to the Industrial Internet as a merger of big iron and big data to create brilliant machines. In industries, objects are being created and transformed all the time. Mechanisms are needed to enable the tracing and recording of object history from creation, through transmutation until, as the case may be, retirement. These mechanisms, when embedded inside employee workflows and, combined with smart data analytics will lead to better data management, control of access, streamlined efficiencies, improved productivity, and new industries of co-creation. We are currently taking small steps with our colleagues at University of Southampton (UK) and STACC (Estonia) to investigate these mechanisms of object history capability while validating them inside workflows of employees in companies and factories. We would like to pursue this idea further as the H2020 project. The networking day will provide us an opportunity to discuss our idea with potential (attractive) partners, especially from industry. In addition, we'll get an opportunity to learn about other initiatives/ideas and might get opening to join stimulating consortium.
