The aim of the project "Sacred Meal, Commmunal Meal, Table Fellowship, and the Eucharist", to be published in a three volume anthology, is a precise analysis and reconstruction of the Early Christian ritual of the Eucharist and its context, the practices of sacred and communal meals in general. Thus, a survey of the lively discussed New Testament research topics on the Eucharist has to take a broad range of topics and respective disciplines into account. Accordingly, the anthology considers the relevant cultural and religious contexts, for instance, Greco-Roman, Old Iranian, and Jewish contexts. This broad, interdisciplinary approach, reflected in the various different scientific subjects involved, generates the structure of the project. More than 70 excellent scholars from all over the world, predominantly from Scandinavia and Germany, passed through an intensive process of conferences, discussions and peer-review which constitutes the present anthology. This integration of various scientific perspectives and an international scientific community yields an unprecedented holistic perspective on the Eucharist. No future research on the Eucharist and its related historical and theological contexts will be able to dispense with the resear
