PES funding for INNOSUP-1 NewMare proposal

Awarded: NOK 49,999

Marine renewable energy (MRE) sources can make a significant contribution to Europe?s energy mix and carbon free society. They represent an additional green energy source and can therefore play an important role in strengthening the EUs security of supply. Besides, Europe has a strong business and technological fabric operating in the energy and marine industry, which alongside with its excellent marine resources in terms of recoverable energy1, should foster the emergence of the MRE sector. Moreover, based on the study of Ocean Research in Horizon 20202, the MRE sector presents a great potential in terms of job creation. This project addresses especially to SMEs transitioning from conventional value chains and markets to the emerging MRE markets. The global goal of the present project is to accelerate the MRE market uptake through a global cost reduction of the entire value chain. This may be achieved only if well-prepared SMEs integrate efficiently the emerging MRE value chains. The new MRE value chains will be then reinforced through the implementation of sustainable and viable new business models.
