Arctic Data Symposium

Awarded: NOK 49,999

With fast changes in climatic, environmental and economic conditions of the Arctic, global attention and effort is focused towards the region. A broad variety of stakeholders from the public, economical and scientific sectors are seeking for comprehensive, exploitable and reliable information. The main challenge for the Northern society is to adapt to changing environmental and economic dynamics, while taking the best capabilities from the knowledge available. It becomes vital to cost-efficiently make accessible and interoperable the extensive amount of data on different fields in the Arctic. Information and knowledge must be integrated across disciplinary boundaries to efficiently record, develop and connect networks, innovations, sustainability and socio-economical strategies on local to global scales. This symposium looks to discuss methods to develop timely and relevant data intelligence supporting adaptation to climate change. It aims to discuss data available that may be used to fill knowledge gaps. The symposium lays the basis of integrated and secure Arctic Data within Scandinavian countries expanding towards European and global data networks.
