This PhD project will explore how participatory processes can contribute to addressing the interlinked crises of climate change and biodiversity loss that threaten life as humans know it on Earth. I focus on participatory processes in marine innovation projects that help to address the biodiversity and climate change crises through nature restoration and nature inclusive design. Investigating participatory processes within a marine context is highly relevant, as marine stakeholders can be more difficult to determine due to geographical distance from the coast and coastal communities.
