TRANSPORT-Transport 2025

Transport Modelling Seminar

Awarded: NOK 39,058

Transport models are the most used tool in the assessment of transport projects and policies. The models simulate traffic volumes for the different alternatives. The traffic volumes prognosis is the basis for calculations of e.g. user benefit in cost benefit analysis, pollution, and toll income. This process requires assumptions of people?s travel behaviour. A lack of accuracy in the assumptions and hence in the forecasts might lead to the selection of a project that is not optimal. This seminar aims to improve the knowledge and competences of the people already involve in transport modelling. Norwegian Transport Models present several limitations; further knowledge might help to understand better the background and hence come with solutions to improve the Models. The seminar also aims to enhance more PhD candidates to work on this important field. There is lack in advance courses for this topic, thus this seminar might help to cover some gaps in the University. Additionally, international experts will hold the guest lectures. This may open possibilities for future research collaborations. The seminar will take place in Trondheim at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
